Freelance Funnel ⏳ : From Insta DM to Paid client πŸ’°πŸ’Ά

We all know that freelancing stands for freedom… and we keep hearing that! But none actually talks about the chaos when some one just DMs for a price quote and just disappears after that… That’s where I believe we need a planned funnel to tackle the situation and ensure we get the project onboarded and move it towards closure…

Here funnel I meant isn’t something about the tool/Landing Page/nor a Freebie to offer.. it’s just a simple confident ride that we might want to take the client with us to crack the deal.. All we might need is some readiness and professionalism to attain client’s attention to start with…

Here are 5 simple things that we might want to keep in mind and follow to ensure client signs the deal with us.. here I am taking a quick example of Instagram, but it very well works for any platforms wherever we are marketing, say Fiver, upwork and so on.. yes, the cost does matter to the client, but if quality is promising, the cost will be packaged well into the deal..

Without any further due…

– Keep the Bio very specific without any distractions

Just a freelancer, allrounder, (or any personal tag such as foodie) doesn’t work any time..

Instead “Helps self-employers build a portfolio with websites | DM “Website” to get started”, should be crisp and spot on. It looks like a mini landing page for me

– DM Workflow – Don’t jump onto pricing!! I would park that to the last phase always, after gaining client’s trust

Phrases like “Thanks for reaching out, What’s the struggle, is it urgent, do you have any reference about the requirement” might help. Start the conversation.

– Introduce the solution/service softly – Package is always recommended with some freebies..

Who doesn’t like packages if coming at the same price. Explain what’s included. In our example what’s that we can deliver beyond just website! any warranty/support for some period (helps in longterm, and even can buy more referrals through this client)

Talk about timeline, price, what will they get in the package

– Close the deal with a quick documentation

Send a payment link, or Fiver/Upwork link to proceed, confirm timelines & deliveries in a summary note

– Post Sale – Keep the funnel warm

Follow-up after the delivery for any technical glitches, or even any minor tweaks needed (if possible do it free of cost)

Upsell if possible: Soon after delivering, try to upsell if any further elements applicable for the product. Might be a Basic SEO checklist or mini Loom tour

Some Pro tips that might help strengthen the funnel!

  • Use automation or saved DM replies (Manychat app or IG’s quick replies)
  • A Notion page can help maintaining the packages ready
  • Story Highlights = funnel boosters (add FAQs, β€œBefore & After”, Reviews, Free tips)

Before signing off: Don’t wait, Build the path/funnel from Scroll -> DM -> Deal -> Paid
