What’s COPYWRITING BTW?
Firstly, some questions to answer. Let’s do this in a Q&A format.
- What’s copywriting?
- My take: Copywriting is all about conversions! We WRITE in order to have some conversion (sale) happen at the audience end.
- Google definition: the activity or occupation of writing the text of advertisements or publicity material.
- What’s that the term now a days standing out. Isn’t it just writing ?
- Two parts to the question: Why standing out?
- We are running in a digital world. Now a days, especially after Covid19 pandemic, the businesses have boomed into digital world, and business of digital world also have evolved a lot. If someone is into business, especially the youth between 22-30 aged who aren’t in conventional salaried job, I am sure most of them would be into some kind of online business. Say it’s Amazon selling, Drop shipping, Affiliate marketing, Social Media marketing, monetisation with YouTube, affiliates through Instagram etc etc. And to succeed and sustain in these businesses, one have to ensure they write up the script for selling. Just think it as a sales pitch, but with certain amount of conversation % guaranteed with it. So, executing the script (say it a WhatsApp group text about a product, Youtube video script on an online course, pitching digital services to a online influencer, make audience to signup to a newsletter, click a link etc) would give an out put of buying the product/course.
- Just Writing? – Yes, it’s just writing. But as specified above, it’s not only just writing, but a commitment of certain amount of conversion with it.
- Two parts to the question: Why standing out?
- Who can do copywriting?
- Everyone who is a good story teller can do it
- With a language that’s understandable by the audience
- Skill to hook the audience to the message and convert it to a sale
- To whom can we do copywriting? AKA, who are our clients if we are copy writers?
- In my opinion, literally any one who’s is ready to read your email/text/view your video. All it matters is a subject/thumbnail/preview of the message that hooks the reader/viewer.
- Only clause is, if you know the audience, then just got to ensure we are targeting with correct product. After all, I can’t sell a Skethescope to an engineer. Target the ones who’s in medicine careers.
- So ideally, you can be a ghost writer for a seller and copy write on behalf of him/her (unless you are selling your own product to some one).
- What are the different copywriting areas/opportunities in 2025?
- Here are some opportunities that I see.
- Email copywriting – Email on behalf of beautician if they are selling any products and have some audience
- YouTube Script writing (social media) – Script on the product sales video, Ad ideas. It’s basically a complete script with dialogues to run the entire film.
- Ad copywriting – This can be a newspaper Ad, Youtube Ad, TV ad
- Website copywriting – Write the posts to a blog or on website on behalf of the blog/website owner
- SEO copywriting – rank on google, bring organic traffic
- Product descriptions – E-com text that helps sell the product. Ex. Product description page in Amazon
- Technical copywriting – Educate the audiences one the new tools in the market
- Landing Pages – One of the most crucial and hot ones to attract & engage the audience. To increase signups, sales etc.
- Here are some opportunities that I see.
- Are they still valid in 2025?
- One word – yes
- I hope the opportunities that I had stated above point-5 gives a thought process if they are still valid!!! They would run very well in this digital world!!
